Building Access

To help ensure the safety of the campus community, the east entrance (near the shuttle drop-off point) to the Sheila and Eric Samson Pavilion will be swipe-access only using a valid Case Western Reserve ID.

The west entrance, near the security desk, will be open during regular hours and available via swipe access during non-business hours.

Emergency Notifications

Case Western Reserve and Cleveland Clinic each have emergency notification systems to quickly distribute important safety and emergency information on a variety of topics, from tornado situations and severe winds to safety and security concerns.

The CWRU and Cleveland Clinic systems are completely separate. We strongly encourage all faculty, staff and students who frequent the Health Education Campus to ensure their contact information is up-to-date in their respective notification systems.

CWRU Alerts

All Case Western Reserve faculty, staff and students, including those studying or teaching at Lerner College of Medicine, are automatically enrolled in the university’s Rave system with their CWRU email. Case Western Reserve has an emergency notification system, Rave, to quickly distribute important safety and emergency information affecting the entire campus, including Samson Pavilion and the Dental Clinic.

Though all Case Western Reserve faculty, staff and students are automatically enrolled in Rave with their CWRU email, individuals must log in to Rave to add a mobile phone number or preferred email (for example, a Cleveland Clinic email address as opposed to CWRU). CWRU Alerts are the primary means of emergency communication for the entire university community, so it is critical that you update your information.

Visit getrave.com/login/cwru to review and/or update your contact information.

Cleveland Clinic Alert Service (CCAS)

The Cleveland Clinic Alert Service is Cleveland Clinic’s emergency notification system to quickly distribute important safety and emergency information to caregivers across the enterprise. This includes text, email and desktop messaging.

All Cleveland Clinic faculty, staff and students are automatically enrolled in CCAS with their ccf.org email. To update your profile, visit the CCAS website and log in by clicking on the blue Sign in with SSO credentials button. If accessing this site from a non-Cleveland Clinic network, you will be asked to enter your CC username (email minus @ccf.org) and password.

Safety Apps

Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve each have safety apps to provide easy access to critical safety resources.

These systems are completely separate; we encourage all faculty, staff and students to register for both systems.

CWRU Spartan Safe App

Members of the Case Western Reserve community should download Spartan Safe from the iPhone App Store or Google Play, or by searching “CWRU Spartan Safe.”

The safety app offers easy access to critical resources that you need the most. The free app—created through Rave Mobile Safety, which the university uses to send emergency alerts via platforms such as email and text—provides a number of tools designed to keep you safe.

By downloading Spartan Safe and registering your CWRU email address, CWRU Police will only ever be a few taps away. The app invites users to create profiles with as much personal information as desired—contact information, medical conditions, emergency contacts and more—allowing officers to respond quickly and precisely to those in need.

Explore the enhanced features of the app.

Cleveland Clinic StaySafe

Cleveland Clinic caregivers and students, as well as all faculty, staff and students utilizing the Samson Pavilion are encouraged to download the Cleveland Clinic StaySafe app from the iPhone App Store or Google Play, or by searching “Cleveland Clinic StaySafe.”

New users can register using your cell phone number and Cleveland Clinic or CWRU email address.

Training

Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic both offer training on an active shooter response program, known as A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate). During the training, attendees get an in-depth look into an active-shooter situation while learning tactical advantages during an armed-intruder incident.

All students, faculty and staff who will be located in the Health Education Campus are strongly encouraged to undergo A.L.I.C.E. training in this new building—even if they’ve already taken it before in another space.

For more information or to register for an A.L.I.C.E. training session, visit the Public Safety website.
